The Carmelite Connection to Bless the Child
The Carmelite Connection to Bless the Child
The three Exorcists who were good-hearted enough to help me with my research for Bless the Child told me no Exorcist worth his salt would ever go up against an Evil Entity without the Carmelite nuns at his back.
I’d been raised an Irish Catholic and there had been a Carmelite Convent in a nearby town, so I’d known that to be a Carmelite was to leave the world behind and to espouse a life of silence, prayer and commitment to God. But, beyond that austere sounding protocol, I knew nothing of their work.
A Very Tall Order
So imagine my astonishment when these priests told me the true mission of this contemplative order of nuns was to put the full force of prayer to work to save those souls under attack by Evil forces. These nuns pray in teams, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the souls of those harassed, oppressed or possessed by evil spirits.
After having spoken to the Mother Superior of such a convent I was so touched by her courage and devotion that I wrote a character into Bless the Child to embody all I had learned of these unsung Carmelite heroes.
