The Native Americans call the Black Hills in South Dakota, the “Heart of Everything that is.” They believe the Earth Mother’s body has organ systems just as we do, and that the Black Hills are the heart of the Earth. The Dineh Tribe believes its sacred Big Mountain is the earth’s liver, and now that its coal is being depleted by mining processes that pollute and poison the surrounding land and water, the liver can no longer function to cleanse the Earth Mother’s body of toxic wastes. The Aborigines call the Coral Reefs the Mother’s blood purifier, but
now that our oceans are being so horribly polluted, the coral reefs are actually disintegrating. The Indigenous People of the Rain Forest believe that their forest forms the lungs of the earth, yet the Brazilian Government has approved the depletion of 50% of this oxygen-giving Sacred Site. The Gwich’In Nation calls the Arctic’s National Wildlife Refuge, “The place where life begins!”, but oil drilling is killing off the lifeforms that begin there, and setting off a domino effect of ecological losses unprecedented in earth history.
Many Native American Prophecies tell us that we are now at the Great Crossroads – either we unite Spiritually as a Global Nation and commit ourselves to protecting our planet by becoming responsible stewards of nature’s bounty, or we will face chaos, disasters, diseases, and tears.
We are the only species that is destroying our Source of life, our Mother Earth, in the name of power and greed. The Indians ask us to join together in saving the earth… they ask us to do it now!
When Wallace Black Elk, a famous Lakota Sioux Medicine Man was asked, “How can we save the earth?” he answered simply, “We don’t have to save her. She can save herself. We just have to stop making her sick.”
While We’re on the Subject…
The Indians – and no, it isn’t disrespectful to call them that, although they prefer The People or First Peoples – have something quite beautiful to share with you. It’s the answer to the cosmic question:
Arvol Looking Horse, visionary Chief of the Lakota Sioux and Prophecy Keeper of The White Buffalo Pipe, has a message for you that will leave no doubt about your role in the great scheme of things:
“Each of us is put here in this time and this place to personally decide the future of humankind. Did you think that Creator would create unnecessary people in a time of such terrible danger?”
“Know that you yourself are essential to this World. Believe that! Understand both the blessing and the burden of that. You yourself are desperately needed to save the soul of this World. Did you think you were put here for something less?”
