Entering the Labyrinth
When I first encountered the legend of the Spear of Longinus, I had no clue it would lead me on more than a decade’s worth of research and writing…a journey almost as overwhelming as the one it sent my heroine, Dr. Cait Monahan on in my story. At least in my case the CIA, The Mossad, The Nazis and the Vatican weren’t on my trail. Instead, I was on theirs!
In Lark’s Labyrinth, when Cait’s husband is murdered and she learns her genius 9 year old daughter Lark is on the same hit list, Cait is plunged into a labyrinthan computer
game that leads to murder, mystery, conspiracy and mysticism…needless to say, I was plunged with her!
Run, Cait, Run (Cathy, too!)
My research led me to Vatican intrigue and the whispers of possible papal murder, to secret societies on both sides of the Good vs. Evil spectrum, a Nazi connection to the war in the Middle East, and more conspiracy theories than you could shake a stick at.
And all of it started on Calvary, when a Roman Centurion pierced Christ’s side with a spear that has become the stuff of legends (and a couple of wars!) because it was believed that its immersion in Jesus’ blood gave it the power to rule the world.
Kings, emperors, conquerors, dictators, popes and the Knights Templar believed in this mystical power long before the Spear of Longinus came to the attention of Adolf Hitler and then became his obsession.
My Obsession, too
To say I was hooked by this astounding tale wouldn’t touch anywhere near the magnitude of the truth.
For nearly 15 years, I followed every thread…read every book and treatise I could get my hands on…spoke with experts, including a Hapsburg Grand Duke whose family had sheltered the Spear for centuries. And then I went on the run with Cait and her wonderful family and friends who are willing to risk everything to save her and Lark, and with them, the soul of the world.
